Conference Rankings Week 4, 2013

23 Sep

Conference Realignment is starting to show its affects on the college football world in the strength of the conferences.  As the major conferences cherry-pick the mid-majors, they are choosing the best of those teams which increases the competitive gap.  Also, the mid-majors then dip down into the FCS to bring teams up to fill the vacant spots.  This appears to have caused a wider split between the “haves” and the “have-nots.”

That being said, the Pac 12 sits atop the conference rankings for the second consecutive week and actually increased their point total.  The Big 10 fell from second to fourth, and the AAC overtook the Sun Belt to make sure all the major conference are together at the top.  As usual, on-field results has caused conference shuffling as you see below.
